Each city center dreams about being great and prosperous – but not every city center has what it takes to get there. Jamie Licko and Michael Scott, with the firm Be Centro, do feasibility studies of city centers. They found that no “big silver bullet” can fix all the city center’s problems. Many factors affect the outcome of these plans. This not only includes good design, but also the demographics, economic viability of the city, infrastructure and many others.
A new trend in urban centers has developed in past decades. More people are moving and planning to move into urban areas. Demographics are shifting as well. The demographic shifts affects what the city has to offer to different generations.
The revitalization of urban areas can be a long process for many cities. Strategic planning is important in order to achieve the prosperity of the urban centers.
